I'm writing music reviews for Colorlines. yay!!
as of the summer 2005 issue, yours truly is the write of "Race Records" the music review page for Colorlines Magazine.
If you got suggestions of stuff to review, email me from the blog: a couple guidelines:
1) I'm looking for music by people of color and stuff that deals with POC/non-white experiences: this includes, of course stuff around mixblood identity and more ( like for example, if you sent me a hip hop CD that talked about Irish, Welsh or Scot experiences of colonization and the British practicing white supremacy on those peoples, I'd like *die*.
2) I need stuff released in the last year. Older stuff is cool if it is a recent remaster or re-issue.
3)It needs to be commercially released music-meaning that you can actually buy it in store or online ( like Amazon, CD Baby) etc. I try to keep a balance of major label and independent stuff.
4)Woymnist/feminist and LGBTI stuff gets special consideration, as so little of it gets a chance for relative mainstream coverage.
ah-ight. Holla with the free CD's like now. :):)
